With great pride, Mind in Harrow officially relaunched the Hayaan Somali Mental Health Project at Harrow & Wealdstone Library this week.
This much-needed service was previously closed in August 2024 due to a lack of funding. Now, thanks to a generous grant from the Reaching Communities National Lottery, we are delighted to bring the project back—and stronger than ever.
Anna opened the relaunch event by expressing gratitude to those in attendance and shared her excitement about the project’s return:
“It is fantastic that this project can start again.”
The Hayaan project provides culturally specific mental health support for the Somali community in and around Harrow. With this renewed funding, we are now able to offer:
✅ One-to-one casework support
✅ Monthly wellbeing and mental health workshops
✅ Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) training tailored for cultural needs
The relaunch began with a powerful and informative workshop led by Dr Fido, titled “Hormones and How They Can Affect Mental Health.” The session provided attendees with both a biological and mental health perspective, delivering key insights in an accessible and engaging way. Thank you, Dr Fido, for such a valuable start to the Hayaan programme.
Mind in Harrow is proud to continue its mission of inclusive, community-rooted mental health support. The Hayaan project will run until December 2029, offering vital services to those who need them most.
