Join us this October as we observe Black History Month and promote the importance of emotional healing and community connections.

This year’s theme is Reclaiming Narratives

Black History Month 2024 Reclaiming Narratives

This October, we celebrate Black History Month 2024 with the theme Reclaiming Narratives. At Mind in Harrow, we recognize the importance of amplifying Black voices and addressing the historical trauma that has affected communities for generations. This month serves as a reminder to honour the stories, experiences, and contributions of Black individuals while advocating for mental health and emotional well-being.

We invite you to participate in a significant event: Holding Emotions: Reflections on Collaboration, Historical Trauma, and Community Healing. Join us on 17th October 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM online via MS Teams. This event will showcase the collaborative efforts between Mind, the Museum of London Docklands, and the youth organization Taking Shape Association in creating the Holding Emotions display.

The display is designed to help attendees confront and process emotions related to the history of the transatlantic trade of enslaved people. It highlights the importance of reclaiming narratives and centring the voices of those directly impacted by historical injustices. This event will feature insights into the creative process behind the display, discussions on the impact of historical trauma, and the power of community healing.
