Dr Abdullahi Fido
Volunteer & Trustee
My first partnership began in September 2010 at the invitation of Mr. Abdi Gure, Coordinator of Hayaan Mental Health project for the Somali communities in Harrow and later on expanded to wider area in the UK. The main focus of the partnership has been to support the mental health training of a young Somali volunteer-workforce, Service Users, their families and carers.
I have been running a half-day long twice monthly Training Workshops and seminars, lectures and on open- discussion formats which makes a total number of 144 hours per year. In addition, I conduct a one-to-one consultations regarding reassurances or, and provision of a second opinion for Service Users and their families.
In 2014 I also became a Trustee of Mind in Harrow when I was elected to join the Board.
